I pledge to protect your interests as the Ward 5 state representative.

The life Bill Dolan lives today – the life of a happily married man, a homeowner, and a successful small business owner – is a far cry from the life Bill was born into. Growing up in a single-parent household in the projects, Bill had to fight to make a better life for himself. He understood at a young age that the way out of poverty was a mix of hard work, dedication, and drive. He excelled in school, eventually paying his own way through undergrad, law school, and business school.

The lessons Bill learned growing up around poverty, rampant substance abuse, and unchecked mental health issues have shaped him into the man he is today. Bill is equal parts pragmatic and empathetic. He understands kitchen table issues faced by middle class and lower-middle class families. He understands what the local government can do to help. Bill is a strong advocate for public schools, a strong advocate for better mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities, and a strong advocate for tax policies that invest in workers – not corporations.

Bill is running for state representative because he values the ideals our country and our state were built upon. Freedom, equality, and justice. Many politicians in our state seem to have forgotten these founding principles. Efforts to restrict access to abortion, efforts to defund our public schools, and efforts to legislate who adults can legally marry are an affront to our country’s values.

Bill still thinks of himself as a scrappy kid from the projects. He’s a straight talker who won’t sugarcoat the truth. He isn’t afraid to call out politicians who pay lip service to policy ideals without taking any real action.

Meet Bill

Bill’s life experience has given him the ability to address, work with, and understand the needs of people across the political and economic spectrum. In the statehouse, you can count on Bill to be a voice of reason. He will be an outspoken advocate for the issues that matter most to our communities across New Hampshire.

Priorities as Ward 5 state representative

Fiscal Responsibility

Our elected leaders have a responsibility to wisely and sustainably invest our tax dollars. Investing responsibly in our communities means investing in our public service workers (firefighters, police officers and social workers), our education system, and the infrastructure we need to modernize our city.

Public Education

Education can and should be the great equalizer in our society. A child’s educational opportunity and school quality should never depend on their family’s economic status. Educators and students across New Hampshire deserve high quality resources and support so that the next generation of Granite Staters is well prepared to build a better future for all.

Promoting Tolerance & Diversity of Thought

Tolerance, diversity, and civility make up the backbone of our society. Our local leaders must be tolerant and accepting of viewpoints and ideas they may not always agree with. That being said, the views and actions of radical extremist groups who put forth hateful and divisive rhetoric cannot be tolerated.

Politicians and extremist groups who support proposals like CACR 32 – a constitutional amendment declaring New Hampshire’s independence from the United States – are blatantly unpatriotic and unamerican.

Public Health

Our family members, neighbors, and friends struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues should not suffer in silence. Making substance abuse and mental health care accessible and affordable is the first step towards making our communities whole again.

The opioid epidemic and mental health crisis have ravaged our state and our community. It’s beyond time to invest in high quality, community-based public health programs that address these issues.

Women’s Healthcare

All rights in our country rest on the right of bodily autonomy. Women in the Granite State have a right to access the full spectrum of evidence-based reproductive health care, including abortion services. Government intervention in the patient/physician relationship is unwarranted and constitutes serious overreach.
